The NHS Discharge Medicines Service is an essential service offered by all community pharmacies to patients following their discharge from healthcare settings such as hospitals. The purpose of the service is to reduce harm to patients caused by medication changes, give patients an improved understanding of their medicines post discharge. It also ensures medicines are stopped as intended, and reduce hospital readmissions because of medication issues.

We offer a free Blood Pressure Service to identify people aged 40 years or older, or at the discretion of the pharmacist people under the age of 40, with high blood pressure, who have previously not had a confirmed diagnosis of hypertension. LFD service

From 6th of November, we started providing the Lateral Flow device tests supply service. It is an advanced service that allows eligible patients who have risk factors for progession to severe COVID-19 to obtain LFD test kits from participating community pharmacies.

This service allows eligible patients to self-test if they have symptoms and access treatment if the result is positive.

It is a walk-in service where patients/representatives can collect one box of 5 LFDS tests on confirming that patient is part of COVID-19 treatment cohort.

The pharmacy owner will confirm patients's eligibility for a supply of LFD tests by:

  1. Seeing the patient's NHS letter which confirms eligibility
  2. Having a discussion with the patient or their representative about the patients's medical history, confirming they have a qualifying condition. The pharmacist may wish to review the National Care Records Service (NCRS) and then use their clinical judgement

Any questions, please speak to a member of the pharmacy team.

Contraception

The NHS have introduced a new service which will allow you to obtain repeats of your regular oral contraception from the pharmacy without the need to obtain a prescription from your GP.

We can provide any oral contraceptive tablet that is currently available on NHS prescription.

We will run through a general health screening questionnaire and in the case of a combined contraceptive tablet (estrogen and progesterone), we are also required to perform a blood pressure check and also ensure your BMI is with an acceptable range. If you don't know your weight or BMI, we will calculate this for you.

We can supply up to 12 months' worth of contraception and we will normally supply the usual duration you receive from your GP.

Supply is free of charge in the same way all contraception is free of charge when supplied by the NHS.

Either pop in to the pharmacy or call us on 01724762398 to arrange a convenient time to complete a consultation with our pharmacist.

Smoking Cessation

NHS smoking Cessation Service provided to hospital referrals only

Smokers are twice as likely to quit with the aid of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and counselling than through will power alone. Our smoking cessation programme covers an initial 4 week course that only costs a single prescription charge (currently £9.90). This covers all the quit smoking products needed during the eight week programme. Persons exempt from prescription charges receive this service free of charge.

Initially a simple form needs to be completed and the person's carbon monoxide levels are assessed. Staff provide guidance and support to help kick the habit. Where necessary, suitable NRT products are selected.

Treatments include patches, gum, lozenges, spray or microtab. The most suitable product(s) will be chosen during the initial consultation and may be changed according to response.

Patients usually come in weekly for a quick progress check and to replenish their NRT supplies.

Smoking is the biggest risk factor for stroke and heart disease. Our advisers are trained to provide support and are committed to helping you lead a healthy and smoke free life.

If would like more information, please call us on 01724762398 and talk to a member of staff who will be pleased to assist or pop in to have a chat with a member of staff.
